I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (#29776) working with families and children for over 30 years. My passion is raising healthy children into adults capable of meeting the challenges of life head on. I have worked extensively with families facilitating better communication patterns, establishing healthy boundaries and creating a safe atmosphere. I have spent years providing in- person therapy, couples therapy as well as working in a group setting with adults and youth to discuss their stressful experiences and guide them towards wellness and healthy problem solving . Working in Mental Health for an extensive period of time has allowed me to gain insight and knowledge and work as a Therapeutic Consultant, which helps loved ones and individual understands what options are available to address a particular problem and match to the right type of help.
I also work in the role of a Clinical Supervisor, which entails directing and managing an effective clinical service for Associate Clinical Social Workers . This consists of supervising recent MSW and MFT graduates who are pursuing licensure.
I received a BA in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach, and a Master of Social Work from University of Southern California. I have a current Pupil Personnel Credential that I utilize to work in the Los Angeles Unified School District in a variety of school setting which range from Elementary, Middle to High school's . I have worked as a school site therapist, a clinical therapist and I am currently working in a Specialized Program with Foster Youth. I have also worked as an Adjunct Professor in the Suzanne Dworak Peck School of Social Work, teaching in the Children, Youth and Family concentration. Teaching young adults has given me another perspective of the challenges young adults face . I have enjoyed working with numerous children and young adults and families on self esteem and acceptance .
Teaching client's ways to find their voice to express their needs in appropriate ways while facilitating and supporting their families.
Through my years of experience I have infused my humor into my matter of fact teaching style others that problems or struggles are lessons that need to be learned. I have found that giving my client's homework and working on reachable goals has provided another avenue of expression that clients find beneficial. Self- acceptance is my area of focus at a vulnerable times. Through my practice one will be provided the tools, support and follow through necessary to get to the next level. My concentration is facilitating mental health services to youth and adults. My experience has taught me there are many that are looking for safe place to express their hopes and desires, as well as their fears in order to make choices that feel right for them.
